ROAD TO CONVERSE RUBBER TRACKS
What: The decidedly diverse double bill of Chennai-based garage rock group Skrat and Mumbai-based Hindi indie singer-songwriter Ankur Tewari headlines the Mumbai leg of the Road To Converse Rubber Tracks, a new country-wide music talent hunt/battle of the bands organised in association with NH7, at the end of which the winning act will record at the Converse Rubber Tracks studio in New York. Over the past couple of weeks, bassist-vocalist Rohit “P-Man” Pereira of Shaa’ir + Func and ViceVersa has checked out bands at college festivals and gigs in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata and Chennai and those who sent in entries via the Converse India Facebook page and put the names of the ones he felt worthy up for public voting. The five bands who receive the most votes will play the semi-finals in each of the aforementioned five cities. Tonight’s gig at Blue Frog, where Vernon Noronha, Qafilaa, Spud In The Box, Unohu, and Carlton and the Saints will compete for a spot in the grand finale in Mumbai (scheduled for the second week of April) is the first of them.
Where: Blue Frog, Mathuradas Mills Compound, opposite Kamala Mills, Tulsi Pipe Road, Lower Parel. Tel: 022 6158 6158.
When: From 7.30pm.
How much: Free.

F.A.M. JAM
What: The third edition of this new weekly gig series, which spans the fields of film, art and music, will begin with a screening of writer-director Shreya Dev Dube’s short movies High Hat and Glass Bottom Boat. The music will come courtesy of electronica DJs Kini Rao, Vandana Bhalla and Orbs & Zen aka the duo of Nicky Ramnani and Ajay Makhija, while Squidworks aka the solo electronica/painter avatar of The Mavyns’s bassist Varoon Nair, who played the inaugural event, will showcase his art works this time around.
Where: The Daily, behind Shoppers Stop, in the same building as Suburbia, S.V.Road, Bandra (West). Tel: 022 2641 8409.
When: From 8pm.
How much: Free.

EDEN HEATS
What: The city’s best-known electronica collective Bhavishyavani Future Soundz is marking 15 years of making music with a weekend-long festival from Friday, March 28 to Sunday, March 30. This “pre-party” at Bandra’s Pali Bhavan restaurant, during which the collective’s M.Mat and Charlee will man the decks, should offer a taste of what to expect at that celebratory extravaganza which will be held at Blue Frog and the Palladium hotel (look out for details on those next week).
Where: Pali Bhavan, 10 Pali Naka, near Costa Coffee, Bandra (West). Tel: 022 2651 9400.
When: From 10pm.
How much: Rs500 per head.
